Young Leaders

Youth are an integral part of the America’s Promise Alliance. They provide fresh perspectives, energy and enthusiasm, and close connections with peers and young children. Across the country, young people are working hard to fulfill the Five Promises in many ways: volunteering and organizing projects; speaking up for what kids need; getting their friends involved. The Alliance values not only the actions of young people, but also their leadership. Click the links below to learn about opportunities to get involved with the Alliance, incredible stories of young leaders around the country, and resources to help you help more children and youth get more of the Promises they need, including information about the new My Idea Grants program.

The Impact Network for America’s Promise

The Impact Network, the Alliance’s network of young leaders serving with an Alliance Partner, unites and empowers youth to take action through and with the support of Alliance partners to address the challenges facing their communities.

My Idea Grants

America’s Promise Alliance and AT&T are looking for the energy, enthusiasm, creativity and commitment to help make this country a Grad Nation through the My Idea grants program. “My Idea,” will empower young people to examine the high school dropout crisis and take action to help more of their peers to graduate on time – improving outcomes for themselves and their community. National grants of $10,000-$20,000 will be awarded to 20 – 25 youth for the best of the submitted ideas to help increase a community’s graduation rate anywhere in the United States. Additional opportunities are available for young people living in Chicago, Houston, Indianapolis, Jackson, Louisville, Nashville, New York, New Orleans, Oakland, and Washington, D.C with grants of $500-$1500 to support targeted local projects.
