Raising Their Voices: Engaging students, teachers and parents to help end the High School Dropout Epidemic
3/12/2010
Civic Enterprises released its latest study, Raising Their Voices: Engaging Students, Parents, and Teachers to Help End the High School Dropout Epidemic, at the March 8 Dropout Prevention Summit in Dallas.
The research – conducted by Civic Enterprises and Hart Research on behalf of the AT&T Foundation – brought together parents, teachers and students to discuss their different, and often conflicting, views of the causes and cures of dropping out of high school. Featured in the report is a toolkit that provides communities with a guide to conduct dialogues in their own schools.
High dropout rates continue to be a silent epidemic afflicting our nation's schools. Although some measurable progress is being made to raise high school graduation rates, the nation's progress is too slow and the costs continue to mount.
