Deadline to complete Afterschool Alliance survey on afterschool programs is Jan. 18

1/12/2012

The Afterschool Alliance has launched a new campaign seeking examples of success in afterschool programs across the country. The campaign entails a short survey where participants are automatically entered into a drawing to win one of two Kindle Fires or one of 50 $10 iTunes gift certificates. The survey submission deadline is January 18.

The Afterschool Alliance designed this campaign to garner solid examples to use as examples of success in the quest to strengthen support for investments in quality programs. The results of the surveys will also provide information critical to improving programs across the country. The Afterschool Alliance is particularly interested in sharing successes with programs that have received 21st Century Community Learning Center funds since the organization is seeking increased funding for 21st CCLC.

Selected success stories will receive national attention in print and online, and will be shared with Congress. In addition to providing statistics and demographics such as number of children attending, free/reduced priced lunch percentage, funding data and more, the types of successful programs can provide the following:

  • Boost student success in school through behavior, attendance, grades, academic skills and  grade advancement
  • Provide engaging learning opportunities in areas such as STEM, digital learning, arts, health/nutrition, global learning and physical activity

The Afterschool Alliance, an America’s Promise Partner, works to ensure that all children have access to affordable, quality afterschool programs. Afterschool programs are critical to children and families today, yet the need for programs is far from being met.
