Leadership Forum

As a result of the America’s Promise Alliance research report, Every Child, Every Promise, the first comprehensive study of how well our children are receiving the Five Promises – Alliance partners realized much work is left to do because:

  • Only 31 percent of our school-age children receive enough Promises to be confident of success
  • More than 10 million children experience only zero to one Promise
  • 20 percent of young people, or 8.5 million children, lack caring adults in their lives; only 8 percent of children  have a formal mentor
  • More than 4 in 10 young people say they will not be able to reach their future goals

To prepare for the Leadership Forum, more than 140 partners and potential partners submitted ideas for strategies aimed at improving the lives of at-risk children. Partners were asked to embrace ideas that:

  • Have measurable impact on the 15 million particularly disadvantaged children
  • No one organization could take on alone
  • Ensure coverage of the Five Promises at home, school and community
  • Provide a compelling opportunity for Alliance partners to support and engage
  • We are confident we can obtain with identifiable resources
