A Citywide Approach to Building and Sustaining Out-of-School Time Learning Opportunities

Source: National League of Cities

This report from the National League of Cities, discusses six action elements identified by The Wallace Foundation as essential to coordinating effective out-of-school time systems that make high-quality learning opportunities available to all children: committed leadership, a public or private coordinating entity, multi-year planning, reliable information, expanding participation, and commitment to quality. National League of Cities examines how five cities that The Wallace Foundation has worked with since 2003--Boston, Chicago, New York City, Providence, and Washington, DC--have implement the six action elements into their out-of school time systems with hopes that other cities can learn from their experiences.
