Connecticut Dropout Prevention Summit

Summit Location : Crown Plaza Hotel, Cromwell, CT

 

Highlights:

Connecticut’s Dropout Prevention Summit, provided a public forum to present a multi-year, cross-sector, strategic framework to: (a) improve K-12 educational outcomes for all Connecticut students, (b) address the complex causes of middle and high school academic failure, (c) reduce dropout rates among Connecticut’s at risk young people, and (d) expand access to career pathways leading to post-secondary training options, including technical training, that lead to good jobs with good pay. Presenters included Governor M. Jodi Rell , Dr. Mark McQuillan, Commissioner of the State Department of Education, Michael Meotti, Commissioner of the Department of Higher Education, Dr. David Carter, Chancellor of the Connecticut State University System, and Dr. Marc Herzog, Chancellor of the Community College System. Follow-up activities will include presentations to the Connecticut State Board of Education, Board of Governors for Higher Education, and the CT Employment and Training Commission.
