Volunteers Work to Ensure Children have a “Healthy Start” at Share Our Strength Conference

This weekend, hundreds of child advocates will visit Washington, DC for the 19th annual Share Our Strength Conference of Leaders. Share Our Strength is a national organization that works with community groups, food programs and culinary experts to ensure that no child goes hungry.

At the conference, advocates will have the opportunity to learn about the different opportunities available to help children receive the nutritional resources essential for healthy development. In addition, participants will hear about Share Our Strength’s plans to expand one of its most important programs, Operation Frontline.

Operation Frontline, a ground-breaking cooking-based nutrition program taught by Share of Our Strength volunteers, helps families with limited resources make healthy meals at home, using a wide variety of foods that are commonly available in stores and from emergency food providers.

Advocates will also participate in a Service Day to support the children and families of the nation’s capital and will have a chance to hear from Food Network star and cookbook author Sandra Lee and ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos.
