America’s Promise Alliance (America’s Promise) today named John S. Gomperts as its new President and CEO. He succeeds Marguerite Kondracke, who has served in that position since 2004. Gomperts, currently Director of AmeriCorps, will oversee the day-to-day work of the organization and provide strategic direction for the Alliance’s mission to improve the lives of America’s young people. This includes leading Grad Nation, a large and growing campaign of dedicated individuals, organizations and communities working together to end the school dropout crisis.

WASHINGTON — America’s Promise Alliance (America’s Promise) today announced the addition of a seasoned coalition of national and state business leaders focused on ensuring public investment in proven early childhood programs. The Partnership for America’s Economic Success, a project that was created and overseen for the past five years by The Pew Charitable Trusts, officially became a part of America’s Promise on January 1.

WASHINGTON, DC — A national survey and research report released today by America’s Promise Alliance (America’s Promise), Civic Enterprises and Peter D. Hart Research Associates shows that nearly three in four (73 percent) of youth ages 16-24 who are not enrolled in school, are unemployed and do not have a college degree are confident and hopeful that they will be able to achieve their goals in life.
