Columbus, OH Community Summit
The Central Ohio Compact Regional Summit
I Know I Can & the Central Ohio Compact
Please mark your calendars for Thursday, April 7, 2016 for the Central Ohio Compact Regional Summit, being convened in partnership between the Central Ohio Compact, I Know I Can, and America’s Promise Alliance. The Central Ohio Compact Regional Summit marks the seventh annual session of the Central Ohio Compact in working towards the goal of achieving 60% post-secondary credential attainment by 2025. As part of the agenda next month, the Central Ohio Compact will reflect on progress to date and discuss a path forward in sustaining and expanding the work of the Compact in the coming years.
The agenda will also include the introduction of the Central Ohio Compact Dashboard and discuss how we want to build on this tool. We will provide the opportunity for updates from our community of partners, including how a federal grant is expanding early-college opportunities for thousands of economically disadvantaged students. We will also include the voice of our students throughout the session, with students seated at each table.
An addition to this year’s Summit is a partnership with I Know I Can. In its role as convener of the Columbus, Ohio GradNation Community Summit, I Know I Can will offer area educators an opportunity to create a regional work plan and identify strategies that address college completion and career success for our youth. It is critical work for our community if we are to meet the Central Ohio Compact's 60% goal of postsecondary attainment by 2025. The Columbus GradNation Community Summit will feature a keynote address by Dr. Angela Duckworth, author of Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance.
The event will be held at Columbus State Community College, Center for Workforce Development from 8am-2pm.
