3 Reasons to Apply for the Power of Youth Challenge

Luzelena Escamilla

America’s Promise Alliance, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and Peace First are partnering to create opportunities for more young people to be agents of change in their local communities.

What If I told you that you could earn a $5,000 grant to scale a service project in your community?

Yes, $5,000!

But how can you apply?

All young people ages 13-18 who want to improve their communities are eligible to apply. Project teams are encouraged and should be made up of at least three young people. Participants must agree to report on project progress and reflect on your project’s impact.

You may be asking, “Why should I apply?”

Here are a few reasons:

1.    Being involved in a service project can help you develop a meaningful community.

2.    Making a difference in your community can help you develop critical thinking and creative problem solving.

3.    You can create real, lasting change. You can make a difference and build skills you can use now and in the future.

Here’s how to apply:

Identify an issue in your community and sign up for the Power of Youth Challenge. Every team that signs up will have access to financial support in the form of mini-grants of up to $250.

Those who apply and complete their projects will be eligible for an accelerator grant of up to $5,000 to grow their project over the next year.

March 31, 2019 is the application deadline!

And make the change you want to see in your community!

So, are you going to apply?
