Building a GradNation Summit

Building a GradNation Summit

A new phase of the GradNation Campaign

As we shift into the next phase of the GradNation campaign, intensifying our determination and focus to continue the increases in high school graduation, we are making various changes to our approach, including changing the way that we convene partners and allies.
Over the past four years, we convened the Building a GradNation Summit we’ve in Washington DC.  That gathering, attended by 1,000 people each year, has helped to catapult the GradNation campaign into prominence and progress.
We forged connections, learned what is working and why, and explored where acceleration is necessary.  Those who were able to attend reflected the diversity of leaders, from every sector, who have the passion, perspectives and leverage to have an impact on the high graduation challenge.  In short, the annual gathering has helped to build a movement and fuel progress toward the goal of 90 percent on time graduation by 2020.
We will not hold another national gathering like the Building a GradNation Summit until 2017 when we will mark the three-year countdown to reaching our 2020 GradNation goals.  It is also another milestone for us -- the twentieth anniversary of Presidents’ Summit for America’s Future and our founding.
We are entering a new phase of the GradNation campaign.
Because we have better data, we now know where and specifically for whom progress needs to be accelerated.  We’ve zeroed in on many of the key levers of change in communities, and across the country.
We are pleased with the progress, but there is much more work to do.  We recognize that reaching the 90 percent goal will require unprecedented alignment, focused action and continuing accountability.
So as we enter the next phase of the GradNation campaign, we are making some changes to the way we connect and communicate with each other, online and in person.
While we will not convene a national Building a GradNation Summt in 2015, there are many ways to stay connected and informed.
  • Join the learning communities active on — see what others are learning, doing, fixing and figuring out.
  • Forge connections at GradNation Community Summits — In 2015 summits will be held in 30 more cities, as we work to reach 100 communities by 2016. Click here to follow our summit activity.
  • Share Knowledge through reports such as “Don’t Call Them Dropouts,” the 2014 “Building a GradNation Report,” and resources from research and practice from around the nation.
In other words, stay tuned … make us a favorite so you won’t miss the new ways we are aligning and acting together to become a GradNation.

About the conference

The Building a GradNation Summit is the annual focal point of the GradNation Campaign, a large and growing movement of dedicated individuals, organizations and communities pulling together to empower more young Americans to graduate from high school on time and ready for college, careers, and thriving adulthood. We will assess progress toward the goals, celebrate our successes, and refocus on the challenges that remain.

The Summit is packed with fresh content, new research, interactive labs designed to let you dive into shared challenges with the experts, and — new this year — "Main Street," the center of our learning community.
