Voices in Urban Education: Extending Learning
January 15, 2014
This Summer 2007 edition of Voices in Urban Education explores the kinds of supplemental services that are essential for young people to develop the “capital” needed to succeed. The Annenberg Institute for School Reform refers to out-of-school-time and supplemental learning activities as extended learning opportunities and supports (ELOS). This definition speaks to the extensive range of activities and learning experiences in a young person’s life beyond the requirements of the school day and core curriculum.
