Target, which gives $3 million a week to support charities nationwide, is taking its giving digital with the official launch of "Bullseye Gives," a two-week-long giving campaign on its Facebook Page that will run from May 10 through May 25, 2009. Two America’s Promise Alliance partners – HandsOn Network and Parent Teacher Association – are featured.

Powell today addressed the National Press Club as part of its Newsmakers luncheon series with a speech titled “Delivering America’s Promise,” where she spoke about the challenges facing America’s children and youth and the high school dropout crisis crippling the nation. Nearly 12 years after the launch of the Alliance, Mrs. Powell reflected on the work of the children’s advocacy organization she and her husband, General Colin L.

Communities In Schools released initial results from the midpoint of its five-year longitudinal study, Communities In Schools and The Model of Integrated Student Services: A Proven Solution to America’s Dropout Epidemic. One of the most notable findings is that the Communities In Schools Model of providing integrated student services has a greater affect on school-level outcomes than providing services to students in an uncoordinated manner.
