You can now help support America’s Promise Alliance by purchasing a custom-designed and recently released t-shirt from AxlsCloset.com, a brand new, one-stop online shop for kid’s apparel from the surf, skateboard, outdoor and active lifestyle markets. Five dollars of each purchase will benefit America’s Promise Alliance. Additionally, as part of its 1% For Kids Initiative, Axl’s Closet will donate 1% of every sale to a new organization every month. For the next few months that donation will go to the Alliance.

Powell today addressed the National Press Club as part of its Newsmakers luncheon series with a speech titled “Delivering America’s Promise,” where she spoke about the challenges facing America’s children and youth and the high school dropout crisis crippling the nation. Nearly 12 years after the launch of the Alliance, Mrs. Powell reflected on the work of the children’s advocacy organization she and her husband, General Colin L.
