Carinne Wheedan is the Senior Director, Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships at America's Promise Alliance, where she oversees projects related to youth employment and youth engagement. She previously served as the organization’s Director of Content and Lead Writer, where she was responsible for messaging and storytelling efforts to galvanize action to improve systems that support young people. Carinne started her career as a teacher, and over the past decade has continued to work in research, practice, and policy settings on issues related to youth and families. Carinne holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School at The University of Texas at Austin.Carinne (Deeds) Wheedan is the Interim Senior Director, Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships at America's Promise Alliance, where she is responsible for communicating the organization's overall messages to raise awareness and galvanize action to improve systems that support young people. Carinne started her career as a kindergarten teacher, and over the past decade has continued to work in research, practice, and policy settings on issues related to youth and families. Most recently, Carinne was the Director of Family Economic Success at the United Way for Greater Austin, where she led the citywide strategic planning initiative to integrate whole-family approaches within education and social services. Prior to that role, Carinne was the Senior Policy Associate at American Youth Policy Forum, where she was responsible for framing and communicating education and youth-focused policy challenges and solutions to state and local policymakers across the country. Carinne holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School at The University of Texas at Austin.
