Lane Russell is director of community engagement at America’s Promise Alliance. She works to strengthen the capacity of communities across the country to better serve their young people and increase high school graduation rates through cross-sector collaboration.
Russell has a background in community outreach, coalition building, nonprofit management, program development, program evaluation, and policy analysis. Her passion for helping young people reach their fullest potential motivates her to serve communities on a national and community-based level. Before joining America’s Promise, Russell worked at the National League of Cities and provided guidance to city leaders in their efforts to build coordinated citywide afterschool systems, including authoring a series of strategy guides to help municipal officials take local action. Russell also served as the Event Coordinator for the Mayor’s Office for Children, Youth and Families in Charleston, SC and the Assistant Director of Juvenile Diversion Programs for Charleston County, SC.
Russell received a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master of Public Administration from the College of Charleston.
