Melissa Mellor leads communications for America’s Promise Alliance and its various campaigns, including GradNation, Every School Healthy, and the YES Project. This includes raising awareness and galvanizing action around the important role of relationships in young people’s lives and the social, emotional, and academic components of learning. Prior to America’s Promise Alliance, Melissa led communications for the Aspen Institute National Commission on Social, Emotional, and Academic Development, including the release of the Commission’s final report, A Nation at Hope. Previously, she acted as manager of government relations outreach at ASCD where she led the association’s advocacy communications and promoted whole child education policies. Melissa has also held positions at the Council of Chief State School Officers and at Editorial Projects in Education, Inc. where she contributed to Education Week’s research reports. Melissa earned her master’s degree in education from Wake Forest University and her master’s in public relations and corporate communications from Georgetown University.
