Cynthia Straughter
Senior Director of Administration
Cynthia is Senior Director of Administration at America’s Promise Alliance and is responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of the office space and facilities. She is also responsible for providing administrative leadership for the Finance and Administration team and acting as liaison between the office support team and the organization’s management.
Cynthia has more than 30 years of administrative experience with organizations in the profit and non-profit sector. She began her administrative career at National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH), in Bethesda, Maryland, where she worked for five years providing administrative support to the Division of Intramural Research. After leaving NIMH, she went to work for Kay Management Company in Silver Spring, Maryland, where she provided executive administrative support to the President and Vice President. Following her five-year tenure, Cynthia held other administrative positions in and around Washington, D.C., including the American Lung Association Government Affairs Office and at Obadal & MacLeod, P.C. She began her tenure at America’s Promise Alliance in December of 1998, as Executive Assistant to the Marketing and Communications Team.
