Lindsey Seltzer
Vice President of Communications
Lindsey Seltzer is the Vice President of Communications at America’s Promise Alliance. A seasoned communications strategist and storyteller, Lindsey has spent the last 15 years working with nonprofits, foundations, government agencies, and political campaigns to advance issues, enact policies, and elect leaders that improve people’s lives.
Lindsey previously spent over a decade at GMMB, a leading political communications and social impact agency. In addition to writing and producing advertising for some of the most visible and dynamic elections in the country—including working on behalf of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Congresswoman (then House Speaker) Nancy Pelosi—she partnered with dozens of mission-driven organizations to design and execute advocacy strategies that helped to move the needle on issues ranging from education to voting rights to affordable and accessible health care.
During the pandemic, Lindsey led communications for ILO Group—a start-up specializing in education strategy, policy, and leadership development—and helped to build, launch, and manage a comprehensive brand identity and thought leadership strategy for the organization. On behalf of the firm’s clients, Lindsey co-created tools and resources alongside school superintendents to support over 200 education leaders’ pandemic recovery efforts in 15 states and more than 150 districts. She also designed and facilitated a communications Community of Practice among a pilot cohort of more than a dozen education leaders to help build positive narratives around their systems’ uses of federal pandemic recovery funds and identify promising practices for wider adoption.
Most recently, Lindsey has worked as an independent consultant, supporting and advising education-focused clients including Alexandria City Public Schools, America’s Promise Alliance, Women Leading Ed, and others.
Lindsey received her BA from Rutgers University in Women’s and Gender Studies. She lives in Washington, DC with her husband and two sons.
