Thión-Zion Lee McFarland is a dedicated higher education professional with a strong background in student affairs, academic success initiatives, and global engagement. He has led dynamic programming and student support efforts for populations ranging from small campus communities to over 32,000 learners, consistently driving increased engagement, retention, and leadership development. His work is grounded in a deep commitment to multicultural practices, intentionally creating environments students express a desire to belong to and a genuine feel of home, even when they are far from the communities they have always known. Thión's experience spans to event management, global readiness, multicultural programming, and strategic communications, all centered on fostering equitable and supportive student experiences. Serving institutions like Russell Sage College, South College and now The University of Pittsburgh, Thión is committed to leveraging his expertise to enhance student outcomes while continuing to grow as a dependable support for developing minds.
