Laura Mitchell
Director of Alliance Learning and Insights
Laura Groenjes Mitchell (she/they) is a former teacher and lifelong learner with 15 years of experience supporting learners of all ages. Laura began her career as a kindergarten teacher and has spent the last decade focused on learning experience design, facilitation, capture, and evaluation for adults – first at Denver Public Schools and most recently as Managing Director of Organizational Learning at Teach for America. She is particularly energized by work that centers and honors the expertise of the individual within part of a collective, through structures like Communities of Practice and Peer Learning Communities.
Laura has a bachelor’s degree from Gustavus Adolphus College and a master’s from the University of Colorado-Denver. She lives in Minneapolis with her wife and two young children. In her spare time, Laura serves as the Board Chair for Our Streets Minneapolis, where she advocates for safe streets and improved infrastructure for people walking, biking, and taking public transportation.
