Maryam Zoweil

Maryam Zoweil is an Egyptian-American Canfield Business Honors student at the University of Texas at Austin, driven by a belief that a fulfilling career should be a guarantee, not a privilege. Her commitment to youth empowerment and experiential education was catalyzed by EcoRise, where she first served on the Austin Youth Climate Equity Council as a high school student. Today, she serves on EcoRise's Board of Directors as the organization's second-ever Youth Alumni Representative, contributing to board health and donor engagement while championing climate education initiatives that empower the next generation of young leaders to pursue green careers.

Maryam's work spans equity-centered curriculum design, intercultural facilitation, college access mentorship, and sustainable innovation. She co-designed a depolarization curriculum piloted with over 60 high school students and presented its findings to educators and community leaders at SXSW EDU 2025. She has also spoken at the Planet Texas 2050 Symposium, AFS Youth Assembly, and the JA Financial Equity Mission Forum on equitable energy, inclusive learning, and women's empowerment.

Through her roles with EcoRise, AFS Intercultural Programs, College Contact, and various organizations at UT Austin, Maryam remains committed to bridging the gap between young people and the opportunities that allow them to explore their potential and define their futures. She is excited to contribute to the Youth Trustee Board and support in advancing APA's mission.
