Sadiq believes community isn’t something you do, it’s something you live. Sadiq Ali is a passionate and energetic community advocate, nonprofit leader, and supporter of young people. He serves as Vice President of Alliance Community at America’s Promise Alliance.

Sadiq has had a diverse near 20-year career in leadership spanning across the private, nonprofit and social entrepreneurship sectors, all with service and community at the core. Recently, Sadiq served as the founding executive director for the relaunched MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership affiliate for the Maryland/DC region – MENTOR Maryland | DC. In his nearly five years leading the organization, Sadiq oversaw a number of supports and enhancements to the local mentoring field including recruiting thousands of new mentors, providing over 10,000 hours of technical assistance to the local mentoring field and increasing the number of active mentoring programs.

Prior to his work with MENTOR Maryland DC, Sadiq served as a national education, workforce and youth development consultant having worked extensively with school districts in Mississippi, Florida, California and Maryland. Sadiq is also a writer and author whose work and curricula have been used by hundreds of schools and districts nationally, impacting thousands of students.

Prior to this, Sadiq served in executive leadership roles at both the store and district level for Target, leading community engagement, CSR efforts and corporate grantmaking to local Baltimore metro-based community organizations, while serving as the general manager for the first ever Target Store in Baltimore City.

Locally, Sadiq sits on a number of boards and advisory groups including being recently appointed to the Maryland Governor’s Commission for Service and Volunteerism; Mayor Brandon Scott’s Boys & Young Men of Color Cabinet and; MBK-Baltimore.

Sadiq is a proud graduate of the HBCU, Morgan State University and University of Maryland-Global Campus. He has also completed continuing education coursework at the Harvard Business School Online. He also derives great meaning from being a father, husband and active mentor.
